SISTERHOOD OF THE WORLD BLOGGERS AWARD & FIESTA FRIDAY #5
So I feel a little ashamed for having sat on this award/nomination for a week now, I wanted to digest it and make sure that I returned a post on it with the justice it deserves plus I was waiting for Fiesta Friday so I could gloat….no I mean, proudly, did I say gloat, bring along my nomination to the party! Do I need to bring anything else? Honestly, I am not gloating, that’s such an ugly word, I am just HAPPY!
Sometimes these nominations/awards get bad press. I think it’s a shame not to embrace the ability here in blogger’s land to ‘highlight’ or just simply ‘say thanks’ to another blogger that gives you some sense of joy or other emotion when reading their blog and or conversing with them.
I have made a few friends here, of whom I look forward to having that back and forth chit chat even if sometimes it is completely mad, then I have other friends who have given me such support over my ‘chronic pain’ issues and also trailing through the complicated process of learning about my children’s learning difficulties and the impact that has on oneself too and one’s family.
So, though sneaky, I felt it might be a good way to highlight here at Fiesta Friday, acknowledging the hostess with the mostests incredibly hard work that she does in making sure everyone does have a fun time, throw a little party to say thank you to everyone who just makes my day a little brighter and to those of you who make other peoples day brighter.
Firstly I want to thank Living with Shadows with whom I share many wonderful chats and someone with whom provides a gentle caring hand of support always at the best times.
I have been trying to find some quotes on sisterhood, most are about being sisters, but I think with a little artistic license, one can transfer the meanings and importance of the ones below to sisterhood in the way intended relating to this nomination.
Help one another, is part of the religion of sisterhood. ~Louisa May Alcott
“They’re the people you can share your secrets with, cry with, laugh with, and just be yourself with. They don’t judge you or make you change. They accept you exactly as you are. They look at you and they see a great person, one they love spending time with. You all share something in common and are tied together by memories, tears, laughs & smiles. You’re tied together by love for the other. Sisterhood is the greatest thing in the world. I find my time with my sisters the best times of my life. My sisters are my heart, my soul, my fun, my laughter, my tears, my love and my life.”
Phi Sigma Sigma
“Sisters function as safety nets in a chaotic world simply by being there for each other.” ~Carol Saline
So there are some rules to follow now
Provide a link to and thank the blogger who nominated you for this award.
Nominate 10-12 blogs that you find a joy to read.
Provide links to these nominated blogs and kindly let the recipients know they have been nominated.
Include the award logo within your blog post.
Answer these ten questions…
Your favourite colour …. My favorite colour/s are pink and red (not together though), red stems from the Wizard of Oz and Dorothys red dancing shoes. I always wanted a pair of those shoes and have been obsessed with red shoes since, plus my mother always told me redheads should never wear red or pink and being defiant in mind, I love these two colours and happily wear them 🙂
Your favourite animal …That is a hard one, I love animals, I have two cats and a dog, urgh….but I love horses. I had to have my horse who was 36 years old put down last year and I think there is something very very special with the union between a human and a horse when riding them and caring for them, having that kind of relationship that only the person who knows the horse well can have, beautiful creatures!
Your favourite non-alcoholic drink …. I would have said Earl Grey, but now Green Tea, but only Clearspring Organic Japanese Green Tea otherwise I revert back to Earl Grey
Facebook or Twitter – I don’t really ‘get’ Twitter, but I do have Facebook, so I guess Facebook?
Your favourite pattern ….. vintage/retro patterns or flowery patterns
Do you prefer getting or giving presents?– I generally prefer giving, I think it depends who is buying for you and who you are buying for, but if I know someone well and can find lots of different exciting treats I love being able to do that.
Your favourite number … 8, don’t ask me why. Just is. I found this on numerology, quite interesting to find out what your number means. I might revert to 6 being my no2 favorite number.
Your favourite day of the week … Sunday, being lazy with my kids around me, hopefully not arguing between themselves but playing a nice game!
Your favourite flower …. two tone roses, like this one:
What is your passion? ….. My children
Now here are my nominations into the sisterhood..
I have nominated the people below for varying reasons, but most of all they have all provided me something unwittingly in some way be it friendship, support, a smile…..the list goes on!
I realize there are 9 nominations on there rather than the stipulated 10-15. I feel that I need to have established some kind of rapport with the people I am nominating with this kind of award, and hence wanted to stop where it naturally ended for now. Not that the other bloggers I follow aren’t fantastic, they are, but due to time constraints and life in general I’ve not had the time to get that rapport cemented yet. There are also other bloggers who have a ‘no awards’ policy who I would have nominated, if however I have missed the ‘no awards’ policy and nominated someone with this, I apologize in advance now!
Big huggles to all xx
