Fiesta Friday #12 ~ a sugary disaster!

Fiesta Friday #12 This week, well actually was the end of last week as I am away on holiday now, due to get back tomorrow, boohoo. I cooked up a storm with my children in the form of chocolate cookies, taken from ngan made it.  You can see her original here. 009

Oh what a mess up we made.  I blame the children entirely.

We got confused with a third of a cup, our measuring utensils didnt give us that and then with two lively boys flour, sugar and whatever else went everywhere. 016

The fact you cover a baking tray with sugar and spread it out is a definite no no around my boys.

Then asking them to make balls out of it and roll it in,my youngest took great pleasure in mixing the portions I had taken precious time over splitting up, all together and shouting “look mummy giant cookie” and then proceeded a lightning speed like some superhero to do it to all of them.

Eventually we got it sorted and put them in the oven.

OMG…we forgot the baking soda and baking powder.

PANIC

My eldest shouted “get them out”

018So I pulled them out, now hot chucked them in the mixer and added the ingredients.

My eldest then went on strike as I had to re do all the biscuits again, rolling and flatenning.

My youngest however was of great help. So they cooked. 020They look great right? I am very proud of the way they look.

However, I would rather use them as a weapon in the forest to knock down squirrels or something. No I don’t really do that.

But they are as hard as rock and would make a good frisbee weapon for small children.

Of course this is nothing to do with the recipe, it is purely to do with MY cooking ability or lack of it.  Now I have 30 of the darn things and no one to eat them LOLOL… So I am bringing them to the party!

As always thanks for catching up on my cooking snippets!

So that’s what you meant when you told me you forgot the baking powder and baking soda–I assumed you started over, lol, not add it into the mix at that point. I think they look wonderful, though! So perfectly cracked on top. But, they probably got hard because of the overmixing. My suggestion: put some vanilla ice cream in between two cookies and make an ice cream sandwich. Let it sit for ten minutes or so, so the ice cream can soften the cookies, or just dunk them in milk! Else, we can just play catch with them at Fiesta Friday! Haha!

I do draw a lot, but didn’t draw that little cutie. What I did do is texturize him and add some depth to him. I will probably eventually draw my own graphic to put up there, but when I saw him I just thought he was too cute not to use! 🙂

No, not free…though a lot cheaper hat photoshop. Depends what you want to use it for. I use it for making a lot of graphics. That’s fun that you are getting a tablet! I LOVE mine! Took a bit to get used to, but once I did I loved it!

I love it- is a child actually allowed to go on strike (good for them)? My first attempt at cookies disregarded knowledge that baking soda/powder was required, so I had cardboard. I think it was brilliant to salvage them from the oven and re-form. Cheers.
