Boxes, tanks, wrappers: for this week’s Photo Challenge, show us something that contains something else.
Most of you will know my sense of humour and a brief idea of how my mind works.
I saw this ‘Dainty Muffin Warmer’ on our recent holiday to Devon at Easter at a huge Antiques Market and it really tickled me pink.
It took a lot of haggling on my part to get it down to a semi reasonable price however I am most happy with my now favored item and it holds court in my bedroom in my cabinet, where else would a muffin warmer be kept right?
Just for those of you who might not understand why this artifact caused me such juvenile humour, the fact is that muff or muffin in English perhaps slang is another word for a woman’s vagina.
For instance, a female wearing a very very short skirt an uncouth man might shout out “oooer like yer muffin warmer” that is not uncommon amongst the building brigade.
Or “shes got a hairy muff” does not mean nowadays usually that said female has a very hairy hand warmer called a muff, you can use your imagination here 🙂
Dainty Muffin Warmer
A little bit that I was told about this wonderful item is that in the Victorian Days there would be large ceramic hollow items to warm various parts of a Ladies body, the smaller the item the more expensive and luxurious said item was considered.
The ‘muff’ which you will see below was favored very much, in to which above ‘muff warmer’ was placed once filled with hot water to keep ones dainty hands warm.
Of course these days I suppose it could have many uses and no I am not going to use it to warm any modern day ‘muff’ it is staying firmly in my cupboard for me to chuckle at but I have been waiting for the right time to share this purchase with my blogging friends and as they say “no time like the present”.
I hope you enjoyed!
Ever seen such a thing?
