I took a ridiculous 1500 photos on my summer holiday this year and as such have not got anywhere near to sorting them out and perhaps would explain for my boys phobia now of having their photographs taken haha!
Anyway with this weeks photo challenge of adventure seemed to fit in pretty well, so I picked a sample of what to me meant adventure, not high activity shots, but ones where I know behind the scenes the adventure that had just been or was about to come 😉
Stratford Upon Avon
In this first picture we had gone to Shakespeare land of Stratford Upon Avon, in which we discovered a Tudor Museum, this photo rather tickled me pink of my eldest and ‘shrek’
The Forest of Dean
The photo below I love, my two boys going off for an adventure in the forest. Wow it was quite a walk and erm yes we got lost which resulted in ‘shrek’ having to backtrack, get the car and pick us up!!
Below we have arrived in Bath and trekked across the City to the Royal Crescent which is an amazing row of buildings in a curve, doesn’t sound much when I type it here but believe you me it is a tourist attraction. I will post photos of it later. However, there was park nearby and this photo is the end stage of both my boys having leapt and jumped on ‘shrek’ which is a regular occurence. Shrek looks a tad exhausted and my youngest has just landed on his back from having being propelled off ‘shrek’s belly. Much laughter had by the little feral child.
Now we are in Glastonbury, staying on a very quirky, eclectic farm! There was a resident donkey who was incredibly naughty, but aren’t most donkeys? Anyway my boys were obsessed with him and spent many hours just sitting on the fence stroking him, avoiding his teeth upon occasion that felt like giving a tasty nip. This is of course ‘donkey’ best friend of ‘shrek’.
In this photo we have all just managed to climb up the Tor in Glastonbury which is yes another tourist attraction. This was a personal challenge for me, it wasn’t the distance but the actual steepness and wow the amazing wind. The wind whips around the tor like a snake and for someone who doesn’t like heights I will admit I got just a step away from the top and couldn’t move, literally I thought if I took my foot off I would disappear in to thin air. So a bit of a view from the top, Wowee!
The last leg of our trip was to Swanage. We had a 10 min walk to the beach, passing the fishmongers where the boys would get their bait for free, then trundling along with their nets finally at the waters edge in hope of catching a fish, crab or something else. They didn’t realize that it could take hours to get a bite and a few tears were had with disappointment.
That folks is just a small taster of our adventures, there will be more to come once I get my mojo in to gear!
Much love, Justine xx
