Macro Monday eeeeooooooorrrrrr!

Macro Monday eeeeooooooorrrrrr!

Now I know this is not quite macro perhaps in some hardcore macro photographers eyes, however, this really is as close as this rambunctious donkey was going to let me get.

We were staying at a farm in Glastonbury and next to ‘our’ garden area was this field where a Mr and Mrs rare breed Donkey were.

This photographed donkey, the male was a right character. Β He kept the missus at bay, feigning nipping her every so often so she would stay in the background when the kids came close and gave him lots and lots of attention.

My youngest would sit on the fence and from the cottage I would watch him stroke the Mr Donkey for simply ages. Β It was quite striking at times when over the fields the sunset would arrive and there were just the silhouettes of animal and boy completely engrossed in each other.

Mr Donkey however, would feign nipping both my sons also which oddly seemed to create much glee in them as much fear as it did in me after having seen his great big teeth.

Apparently so the farmer told me that Mrs Donkey wore the pants but somehow I think he, the farmer was disillusioned!

Maybe the farmer was right. I was suddenly reminded of the line from the movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ when the mother tells her daughter the would be bride ‘Husband is the head of the house and the wife is the neck. she can turn him where she wants to..” Your donkey tale reminded me of that dialogue somehow lol πŸ˜€

Animals can be really sweet like that. We had this golden retriever-husky mix who we’d gotten as a puppy and she seemed to think that us youngest children were her puppies when she was older.
