#Photography 101: Solitude

#Photography 101: Solitude

Today’s Photography101 challenge is to depict solitude or something that shows solitude in the photographers eye and hopefully the viewers eye.

I took this photo the Summer just gone on our holidays.  We were at Monkey World and I simply adore our four legged friends.

Zoo’s are however to me a little like a double edged sword of happiness and sadness.  I know they are very necessary to help with making sure some species or animals do not go in to extinction and this particular zoo is big on rescuing monkeys from simply dreadful situations.

However, I saw this chap and he was ever so lonely, he did however look like he wanted to be left alone, his mind wandering elsewhere.  It was as if we didn’t exist.

Beautiful I love this! He’s got the cutest look. Love the teeth! Perhaps that is why he’s alone, he bites his friends. LOL Happy Friday! 😀

I like the second one. A far away look not focused on you/anything near. Perhaps her was dreaming – and how he finds solitude and survival in the noisy crowd.

I think he’s the one who has taken all food and now it’s embarrassing?

I wish I could hug him and bring him home! Like you, I’m very torn on how I feel about zoos. I understand why they are there, but I usually leave them feeling sad. For that reason, I haven’t gone back to one in years.

yes I agree, this was probably more uplifting than anything else but the photo does make him look sad, I hope that he is just thinking about something wonderful x

This is so so lovely! He looks like he is so lost in thought. I really love the reflection of the glass on the first photo too, it makes it so much more interesting than your average picture of an animal in a zoo.

I know what you mean about mixed emotions… many zoos do rescue and try as hard as they can to replicate the habitats of the animals… but still … he looks so sad… Diane

I love monkeys. So this photo made me smile. He really doesn’t look happy. Maybe it’s the summer heat, or he didn’t get a good night’s sleep the night before. Or maybe he just wants some bananas 🙂

Good one and so expressive of solitude! Poor guy, would be kind of sad to live in those conditions … but then again, one probably is just projecting ones own sentiments on the poor beast due to the title of the post … hmmm

I like that perspective! We make so many assumptions about what others are thinking and doing and so often we are wrong. Nice reminder.

Absolutely love this! And your header is quite original. I used to draw before, some millions years ago. The general look of your blog page is very comforting. Feels like home.
