The Beauty of Glass
Todays subject from the photography challenge is Glass, and here is what they have to say about it:
Incorporate glass in today’s image: a window, a mirror, a wine glass, sunglasses, or something else. It doesn’t matter what form the glass takes.
Tip: We’ve practiced shooting at different angles and from unique POVs. How can you interact with glass to create an interesting photo?
Find an unconventional surface.
Experiment with your flash both on and off.
Shine an artificial light source on it.
So here I am surprising you.
All taken today with my iPhone6
1. The Mirror
I have a penchant for lovely ornate mirrors and this one that I bought a few years back resides in my bathroom.
I think the dramatic monochrome effect suits it well and the steam tells a tale of hopefully a clean person ready for the day! 😉
2. The Happy Mirror
I had to of course have a bit of fun here, who doesn’t draw steamy pictures?
3. The Men
This is my favourite window in the house. I couldn’t get all of it and the statue below as there is a staircase behind me.
However especially in the Summer the sunshine comes streaming through this window which is tall and sides up the side wall of the house and this in turn shines straight over the landing and in to my bedroom ‘if’ I open the door.
I bought this statue of men a while back and this seemed the perfect place, the glass behind highlighting their silhouettes and I always think of them perhaps being fishermen stopping for a break and chinwag, what do you think?
4. Golden Orb
This reminds me of the sunshine with its beautiful sparkly rays coming off it. It is in fact my bedroom door handle. I used the small reading light with it which seems to highlight brass from somewhere changing the light to have some of this within it.
What does it remind you of?
5. Shooting Star
This one reminds me of a shooting star. Funny how one can make something out of such a mundane household item.
In this instance I didn’t use my reading light against it, just the light within the room, quite a different effect don’t you think?
6. The Glass Handle
Finally the glass handle in its raw state. I have these handles all over the house for their dazzling effect, a girl’s got to have a bit of glitter and bling right? 😀
7. Lace Laden Image
I had a bit of fun with this one, playing around with colours and shades etc.
It is of the antique lace that adorns my bedroom window underneath the curtain to keep away peeping toms! 😀
There is to me a multitude of layers here including what is in the background.
8. Black and white
I saw this on my walk to my sons school and though “oh yes this is calling out to be a black and white image. Don’t ask me why, but it was and here we go, I think it has a fresh clean look to it. I love the colour of nature, but the glass box in this instance seemed to be requesting monochrome.
I have a glass side table upon which is my rather ornate old lamp stand etc. It was by pure chance I saw the reflection of it and took note. I played a tiny bit with it and I love the slightly vintage/antique look to it, do you?
So there you have if a whole array of ‘Glass’ related photography. I hope you enjoyed the variety.
Now for the question, what did you think, which was your favourite if any and why? 😀
I would love to know.
Merci for your feedback, Justine xxx

Now on to a slightly different subject matter, but I thought I would try to capture an audience whilst I ‘might’ have it.
I have been talking about hosting a Challenge/Event of sorts for a while and many of the ones I loved participating in myself have ended.
So I thought enough talking and start doing, but first of all I want to find out the interest factor. I have a couple of lovely blogger friends who have already said they are definitely keen but I am throwing this out too all of you to see if I peek interest any further afield.
What is it called, all about etc? The answers of which you will find below:
This challenge/event is predominantly about having fun & socializing.
If you happen to learn anything new, then that really is a bonus, because I do not profess to be an educator of any fashion just someone who loves blogging, loves writing, photography and socializing.
If this is what you like then you might be interested in ‘Eclectic Corner.’
The aim is to hold this once a fortnight, this way managing my own managing capabilities and there will be a restricted amount of entrants. First come first serve type of basis which also manages my ‘own sanity’ so that I can participate without getting overwhelmed, however with it being 20 max (me being optimistic), I don’t think I will hit this number anyhow, but yah never know.
The event will stay open for a week and a half giving a few days before the next for everyone to have a cuppa and say hi to each other.
My proposed Event will be on a Tuesday, this being because at the end of the week there seem to be already a lot of challenges coming out so I don’t want to be in the mad rush of them and also 2 weeks should give enough time to refresh before the next one.
The subject matters will be:
Photography – macro, subject matter, guess what this is, quizz, fun, crazy & the rest
Writing – poetry, flash fiction, word puzzles, creative writing, blog hop & whatever comes to mind
Anything else that flashes up in to my cerebral matter will be added to the list. The idea perhaps to try something new. It doesn’t matter if you are a novice at it, never tried it or really a wow professional type of person that gets paid to do it! It’s all about trying and having fun!
If you think this might be of interest please let me know in the comments section as I plan to have the first event within, in or around two weeks time.
