Macro Monday

Macro Monday

I have finally  managed to spend some time using my trial of Lightroom.

It is far more complicated than I had anticipated and I fear I am making a complete mess of the filing system, which my head is not getting around at the moment.

However my head is having fun using all the different dials to adjust things.

Now I know many of you label exactly what you have done due to the fact you knew what you were doing. I am still experimenting and tend to just go by eye, working my way through the dials and seeing what in ‘my mind’ makes it look better or more interesting.

So pretty much every type of change has been tried and perhaps used or not in this instance.

I am also presenting this as part of my Photo101 Rehab

I got these lovely bunch of flowers one I call the cabbage as I don’t know it’s name, last weekend, so wishing to preserve them in mortality I present them to you today.

Which edits do you prefer and why?

The first ones shown are the originals.

I hope you had a lovely weekend, Justine xxx

What a cool cabbage flower. I like the “after another style”. It seems very bright and fresh. Have you been doing the tutorials? I haven’t done any yet, I might get to it over Christmas…xx

I looked on you tube to try and work out the filing system, omg it is doing my head in lol, i thought i had it then realized my photos were all over the place. I love the editing side but I hate the filing side, it might be the killer for me, but I need to look up some more you tube vids. Where are the tutorials you are doing? x

I found them in the software, I’ll have another look and let you know. The filing really was a pain. I still don’t think I’m using that side of it properly. That’s what I’d like to learn actually. X

I always smuggle loads of cabbage on my person. I smuggle it in my bra to have something to fill it with. :-p

haha, wow i hope you dont get too hot or that would really smell, but i suppose maybe a cyborg would find that smell attractive? x

          • December 15, 2014 at 5:18 PM

Uuh, nope, no smell, that wouldn’t do. We cyborgs don’t smell nastily bc we’re not people. And maybe when we touch cabbage, it turns into cyborg-cabbage too.

It’s nice to experiment like that. I haven’t yet managed to do it. My husband uses photoshop but I’m ignoring it a bit. 😉
For the the first group and second photos I like the ones in the middle – it feels warm, pale and soft. Brassica is cabbage flowers? Need to report the news to Cabbage HQ!

Oh I just saw and commenting you should all be converging where the brassica is, are you ripping it up and leaving a mess for me to clear up? 😀

          • December 15, 2014 at 10:49 PM

Never leaving any mess behind…and surely not ever doing that to you! 😜

Ohh welcome to lightroom! It IS really daunting at first!! Promise you’ll get the hang of it soon! Stuck with the preset styles for quite a while before i started to experiment a bit more.

Filing is a nightmare, whether digitally or in paper >.<

Luscious looking flowers 😀 cabbage excluded as that falls under a different category!

Hahaha trick is to get them organised first before editing! And then put your edited or fav ones into collections 😀

Which reminds me, was your toasted harddisk salvaged?

oh my toasted disk was partially toasted, it is on a new external hard drive which I have to ardiously sort through and i know some things on there are not working, but c’est la vie as they say, thank you for asking though xx

Nice post, being an apple #fanboy I prefer Aperture 3 for organisation, I don’t like the lightroom filing system much either..the picture at the top right I think is the best of these

But, the comments section is what makes this post! Pass me the cabbage!

Your description of your Lightroom experience made me laugh. You also frightened me a bit. I’ve been holding off on getting my free trial until I know I will have time to sit and play around with it. It sounds as if I might have made a wise decision.
