Eclectic Corner #2 Decadence

Photography, Quotes & Poetry

I love Eclectic Corner (medium)

I love Eclectic Corner

“The exotic and the erotic ideals go hand in hand, and this fact also contributes another proof of a more or less obvious truth – that is, that a love of the exotic is usually an imaginative projection of a sexual desire.”
― Mario Praz, The Romantic Agony

Today’s Eclectic Corner #2 Challenge is as promised something different.  The idea being that fortnightly I rotate different genres to give everyone who has different passions the opportunity to indulge at any one time.

This week I have focused on the word “Decadence” and provided a quote to go with this.

I would like to invite you to work with this quote and focal word and to photograph something that in your opinion depicts this word and supports the quote.

Optional Extra

For those of you poetic in mind, or even not, I would like to encourage you to write a poem to go with the ‘feeling’ or ‘story’ invoked in your mind that the quote, word and indeed your photographic contribution might create.

It can be any type of poem, any length, there are no rules on this, please feel free to just write whatever comes to mind.

I myself am certainly no poet, but love giving anything a ‘try’.

Please find below my entry for this week.

Eclectic Corner #3 Decadence

Eclectic Corner #3 Decadence

I took this photograph recently on my iPhone & tinkered slightly with it.

The gold foot chain was a surprise ‘Christmas present’ sent to me, which I adore & certainly makes me feel decadent.

Wearing it was a lovely experience, not suitable for food shopping around the supermarket however I declare :-D, only for those decadent moments!

My optional extra (Poem)

PS if you wish for some musical entertainment whilst reading the poem, I listened to THIS to get me in the ‘zone’

The Dance inside the Sultan’s Tent

“It will make her a better dancer” he said

as each golden chain glinted against the flickering candles

calling for him to watch

Silken scarves curled like serpents about each curve

the drums starting a gentle quiet rhythm

in beat with her heart

Fingers clawed within the sands

clasping each glassy granule

Raven locks tumbled about glistening shoulders

as she awaited the call

Her body curled like virginal bud

the flutes eventually calling her name

As slow as a lazy adder she unfurled

rising and opening like a bud blossoming

upon the Spring time’s rays

Fingers swept open

releasing now dampened grains

each silk tickling moving limb

Heels rose as toes dipped in to the sands

a provocative flick of each foot

Causing the golden binds of her feet to talk

Fingertips rose upon each thigh

drawing his attention

towards the luxurious swing of her hips

Expensive spices and oils

infused through her nostrils as

tongue flicked hungrily about her lips

An undulating belly drew the eye upwards

as she toyed with him in a spin

returning to rest upon his view

A clap of hands broke the sensual moment

the music becoming a deafening silence

Breaths quickening within rising and dipping breasts

footsteps perhaps heard for a moment

for she was not sure

until his breath caressed her neck

Speaking so close to gem bejewelled ears

deep exotic tones of his masculine voice said

“You have explored most senses that is my gift to you

your gift to me, to explore just one more, but which one?”

Goosebumps erupted over glistening skin

as she whispered…..

“The sense of touch”

Well, there’s an interesting challenge to wake up to, and one that is not quite toeing the line either with its references to the dance of life

I may have two goes at this one, the first may be rather dark….the second I have yet to resolve in my mind….

Never worn foot chain before!! Not sure I’ve seen one, either!! Certainly would make me feel decadent to be wearing something like that on my feet 😀 Maybe I’ll look for one with crystals, the more bling the merrier. LOL!

Justine, you never cease to amaze and mesmerize me. You go for weeks sharing your lovely photos and delicious recipes and a bit of naughty Saturdays. But every once-in-a-magical moment you bring forth such evocative writing or such sensual poetry, that I think ‘who is this free spirit’ to be so much of normal yet so creative in your senses.
I love these bits of magic you.

awe you say the loveliest of things, you really do. I guess I like to think of myself as multi faceted, or something like that, probably a sign of an over active mind, flitting from one thing to another 🙂 I am glad you liked the evocative writing, poetry rarely takes its grasp on me, grins xxx

But maybe you might like to link in to last weeks tea time event which closes this Friday, here is the link:

However, next Tuesday is a Christmas themed tea time event, maybe next week? I just know your creativity would blow me away x

Ran into some really “sensual” prompt sites — spicy stuff! — but really well written. And was thinking, “I could never do that”.

Well, perhaps I don’t *want* to write *that* spicy … but … it’s time to open up a tad perhaps. 😉 A challenge.

Noooo I wish!! LOL. Nope, I confess I used to play ALOT on a virtual reality space that mimicked life, I got rather addicted to it I would say, it was a form of escapism for me. One has to eventually face though what one is trying to escape. I used to roleplay in a certain genre that involved avatars dancing, so one would coreograph animations, v music and then write the dance on a show and not tell basis, so the words would merge with the movements, the movements would tell a story etc, it got very competitive, once in there it felt very real and so did the competitive factor. I used to teach some of the girls to creative write within this field, it’s odd looking back at it now. Those dances were probably, well were a lot more provocative and probably couldn’t be copied on to my blog here hehe, but I did enjoy writing a tamed version 😀 xx

            How interesting! Fascinating experience.
You’re very self aware and with self control and will to make a move when you feel that something crossed the limits. Respect.
There is always something to learn from it. Xx
