Her Gossamer Hair – Tanka – February 17, 2015

I wrote a haiku yesterday as part of the Writing 201: Poetry course that is being held over the next two weeks. The subject matter being water and I took a photo for this. The photo was spotted from a poet and writer I most admire who asked if they could use said photo, of course I said yes. Here is the poem attached to my photo, and wow what a poem. Now the odd thing is today, I write a poem about flying, well if you read this poem here, then mine today the subject matters are eerily almost making a story of their own.

Writing 201: Water

her gossamer hair
flowing like algae tendrils
in murky water
the pilot looked through Perspex
dream’s illusions ebbed and flowed

Yesterday I read Justine’s from Eclectic Odds n Sods,  first effort for Poetry 201 which was also her response to the Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge.  The subject of the first poetry class was water and she wrote this great haiku:

Liquid breath cloaks me
Clouds of steam dust the perspex
Fingertips tell tales

The photograph fascinated me and called to my muse … so I asked her if I could use her photo for a “darkish” tanka … and she said yes, so here we are, with my sincerest thanks!!!

The prefect image for your poem. Beautifully fluid!
