In memory of Splodge!

In memory of Splodge!

My little or not so little pug passed away this time exactly last year.  Facebook gave me a nice reminder of that in those memory things they send to you every so often.  Thanks for that Facebook!!!  Not really what you want to wake up to.

Anyway, Splodge was a dear part of our family.  We bought him as a puppy for my mother after her husband passed away.  When she passed away we inherited him, it was a close call between us and the postman.  We got him thankfully.

He was the most cheerful pug, if he could smile there would have always been a smile on his face.  He had the longest tongue in the world and was possibly the greediest and laziest dog I knew, but we loved everything about him.

It was a shock when he passed away, it was quick an unexpected, I guess that is the best way?  Still when we remember him it does bring tears of sadness that he is not here to both me and my boys, but we are very grateful for the time we had with him.  Teddy misses him greatly too.

So I have chosen some photos from our last holiday in Devon with him to share.

That was somewhat insensitive of Facebook… But let’s keep in mind the happy memories…

yes exactly on both counts, not sure the memory thing that they do is a good idea, but of course it is computer generated, they don’t care! Lots of happy memories, was nice to look through our last hoilday x

It is hard when we lose our furry family members. Still hard a year later – we lost Elliot about a year and a half ago and I still mist up a bit every time i see his picture. But yeah, sometimes FaceBook does those types of things….

yes very hard and it was a bit of a shock getting that Facebook ‘memory’ you kind of expect to see happy things lol. He was very special to me especially so because of his link to my mother. I am sure Teddy misses him too, thank you for popping by Trent x

That is not the type of notification I would want to see on facebook. I think Splodge is very handsome and I love that long tongue. What a sweetheart. I know how hard it is on the anniversary of his death, thank goodness for the sweet memories and photo’s of him. I know it still hurts, it does for me also.

awe Suzanne, sending you big hugs. Yes it was a horrible wake up call from Facebook that is for sure, i always press the button expecting to see nice things and it was a bit of a bolt to the heart in all honesty. It’s that double edged sword thingy you do but you don’t want to remember. He was a handsome chap wasn’t he? hehe, I swear he would have won the Guiness book of records for his tongue. Did I send you the pug stampede thingy? I swear I did. Thinking of you and the hard times you are going through also at the moment xxx ❤

I have an album with pictures of every pet we’ve had, and I often just sit and look and ‘remember’ what they brought into our lives….Including the one we have 8 in all. I also have a post that I did (basically just a journal kind of to remember them also.. how we got them etc…. Anyway, photos are the best Diane

What a cutie! I’m sorry that Facebook had to open old wounds … but … focus on the good memories if you can. If it makes you feel better, I’m dreading Facebook’s reminder about Farfel — which will arrive in a few weeks since it’s her birthday.

I can imagine, now I am very confused, did you change your blog name and I seem to be no longer following you? Really, really odd, following you now or did you create a new blog? x

I have a new blog – 3 of them now. Doves has a slightly … um … different tone, LOL Sometimes I forget to sign out of the new blog before commenting on other blogs and that gets me in trouble! But. Hope you enjoy Huilota 😉

I prefer to remember the birthdays; my childhood dog Wulf passed away at the very old age of seventeen several years ago, but I remember his birthday as it’s also Bastille Day.
