  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 4 ounces plain nonfat lactose free yogurt (I used Green Valley)
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

  • Ice if using fresh blueberries (about 6 cubes or more depending on desired thickness)

Instructions

    1. Add ingredients to blender and blend away until frothy, easy peasy!

Benefits of….

Blueberries contain antioxidants, which work to neutralize free radicals linked to the development of cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other age-related conditions. These little powerhouses provide tasty ways of staying healthy.

Limes contain unique flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Of special interest in limes have been flavonoids called flavonol glycosides, including many kaempferol-related molecules. While these flavonoids have been shown to stop cell division in many cancer cell lines, they are perhaps most interesting for their antibiotic effects.

Chia is filled with two times more protein than most grains and five times more calcium than milk. Plus, it has of high levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, soluble fiber, potassium and antioxidants.

Fiesta Friday badgeAs always this contributes towards Fiesta Friday #94 where people cook and party hard!

What are you up to this weekend?  I have been fighting off a sharing of bugs this week, so hoping that the weekend will bring a relief of snotty tissues and a glass of wine as replacement instead! 😀   Justine xx

thank you, I happen to sell the glasses, not why i used it, but I tend to sell things i love, but if you do fancy giving yourself a present or buying one for someone they are very reasonable, I sometimes put just a single flower in mine. You can find them here:

delicious! I’ll give it a go 🙂 I absolute LOVE the fact that you included the chemical compound names, benefits of the ingredients! I like to research those things too, but usually can’t remember them all, so thank you for putting them in your post!

thank you its a lovely smoothie, really refreshing and you know I didn’t realise the glass would be so popular, it is so so cute. I sell it actually, on my online store, I tend to sell things I love. Sometimes I just put a single flower in my glass. They are very reasonable, a nesting set of 3, you can find them here if you so fancy:
