Barbados, the first few days
The blurb for where we are staying says it’s a pit stop between Earth and Heaven. It feels like heaven right now though, what bliss to get away from the psychotic UK weather (which is probably now sunny as that is what always happens when one goes away?)
I upgraded my flight due to my back as it was the only way I could get here, needing a chair that would be wider and recline. Wow such a difference flying in Club Class. I was plied with champagne, the bed went right back, then it was snooze or movie time. Bliss as far as a flight goes. I did feel bad the rest of the family was at the back but they didn’t seem bothered.
The jet lag threw us somewhat and is still is, making us like zombies by 8pm then up at 5am lol.
Still the early rise proves to give me time to do my yoga. Opening the doors to our pool slightly letting the warm sun stream in through the slats. The incense wafting in the breeze as the candle flickers = heaven with a great view.
Then it’s time to go to the pool. There is nowhere you can go, no matter how nice where you can escape people throwing their towels on beds to claim them even if they aren’t going to stay by the pool!
Last night we managed to have a BBQ to the sound of steel drums tucked in tightly with many in to a small open sided restaurant trying to avoid a tropical storm, it was quite invigorating.
Both boys are somewhat red today so it’s off to shop for UV tops which I should have thought to purchase back in the UK = irresponsible parenting.
Tonight it’s off to Oistins, weather permitting. It’s where they bring in the fish and cook them over oil drums. You buy your rum, macaroni, a portion of flying fish or something else and listen to the beats of the bands playing. If your so inclined you get up and shake it all about.
Some photos….and I hope you’re all having a relaxing Summer
